It's now nearly impossible to sort through the sea of information, and determine what to trust, and why. To counter this, we provide you real-time insights on the quality of news you see online, and we do it in a fully transparent way. No black boxes.
Hello everyone! I'm Jenny, Co-Founder and CEO of The Newsroom 🗞.
@pedrobh and I dedicated the past year to deepening our understanding of the issue of misinformation, structuring our approach, and building a product that could help tackle it.
We're news geeks at heart, who don't like the deeply detrimental effect misinformation has on society and public debate. We believe technology can be used for the greater good, and the extension we're launching today is our first step in that direction.
We'd really love to hear your thoughts about it, so please test it out and tell us what you think.

@pedrobh@thenewsroom@jenny_romano congratulations on your launch! Surfing accessible online data, or information sources is hard as it is. So trusting is beyond limits.. really like your idea here. 👏
Thank you so much Kristen and Liz! Your words are really precious, and it's wonderful for us to hear that you feel aligned to what we are building. Thank you 🙏
Hi everyone! I’m Pedro and I’m the Head of Product at The Newsroom 🗞 – it’s really exciting to be able to release the first open beta version of our Chrome extension to the Product Hunt community!
The Newsroom’s mission is to fight misinformation and promote plurality online. We have developed and keep on improving explainable AI technology that assesses the trustworthiness of news articles online, in a fully transparent way, which we deliver to you in real-time as you’re scrolling through the news.
At the end of 2020, we worked with a team of Ethical Journalists to understand what are the key elements an informed reader should look at when analysing the trustworthiness of a news article. Using that as a base, we scaled the assessment of each element using AI.
🛑 Now, before we go any further, we want to make one thing clear: no single player can ever become the authority regarding what is true and what is not, and our goal here is not to censor or shut down voices. Our goal is the opposite: to provide context on the news, and promote healthy debate, which is the cornerstone of any democracy.
This is why Trust 🤝 and Transparency 🔍 are core to our approach.
By using our extension, you will get an assessment of the trustworthiness of news articles you see online, but you will also always understand exactly what elements our tech took into account to produce each assessment. No black boxes.
At the end of the day the decision is yours regarding what to trust and what not to trust. We give you the tools to make a more informed decision.
We will continue to iterate on our technology and product, and we would love for you to help us by trying the product and sharing your feedback! The fight against misinformation is crucial for all of us, and we would love for you to join us in that mission 🎯
Please feel free to contact us / learn more about us through any of these channels:
info@thenewsroom.aihttps://thenewsroom.ai/https://www.linkedin.com/company...
Note: our extension only works for English content for now.
Thank you so much 🙏
Pedro & Jenny – The Newsroom
