Hi Product Hunt! I'm an independent developer and creator of The Interviewer.
My mission with The Interviewer is to help people have successful interviews. In my day job as a product design manager I've seen many candidates with impressive resumes absolutely bomb the interview, and I think most of them just needed a bit of low pressure practice.
I realized that with the advances of AI language models, speech recognition, and text-to-voice it was possible to create an app that made it easy to get practice that felt realistic. Interviews in the app are entirely verbal, just like a real interview, and you get recordings, transcripts, and AI feedback at the end to help you improve. It works for any position, and each time you do an interview you'll get a unique set of questions so you can get multiple practice sessions in.
Interviews are really important, but few of us like doing them and many of us are bad at them. I hope The Interviewer helps people go into interviews calmer, more prepared, and with a level of confidence and expertise they wouldn't have had otherwise.
I would love any and all feedback you have. What should I focus on in the next version? I'll be checking in throughout the day to answer any questions about the app or how I built it.
@minuteos Your recordings and transcripts are anonymous and private and are only stored on your device. The AI processing is done by a 3rd party but I don't save the recordings/transcripts and have no way of seeing them.
The only thing the app collects are some limited anonymous metrics along the lines of "some anonymous user started an interview". Great question and thanks for asking - I should add that to the marketing materials!
Wow, a compelling approach to interview preparation! Realistic and top-quality mock interviews combined with AI-driven feedback seems like a stellar way to help job seekers polish their skills and gain confidence. How do you ensure the feedback given is tailored and actionable for various industry-specific interviews?
Full disclosure: The developer is a friend and I was involved in the beta.
After getting laid off months ago, I was struggling to get a new job. I always get nervous before interviews and I am too embarrassed to practice with friends. I got access to the Beta and I used it to help me get in the interviewing mindset, completely privately! Hearing the questions and seeing a microphone recording light really helped force me to practice! I started using it the day before an inteview and an hour before an interview. I'm happy to say I now have a job offer! Thanks Jason!
