I’m so excited to launch The Designership onto Product Hunt.
My name’s Michael and I’m a full-time freelance Product (UX/UI) designer. I’ve worked closely with high growth startups to global digital corporations. From Y Combinator backed (Snappr.co and GoLantern.com) to corporations such as Adobe.
Last year I left my full-time role as a Lead designer at a well funded startup in Australia to freelance full time. 6 months in I finally decided to grow the team to 3 (including myself) and we’re now building in-house products alongside some client work.
One of the ventures we’re working is building The Designership community. A passion project of mine.
Why The Designership?
As a freelancer and part time digital nomad, I’ve always struggled with finding a trusted and active community of like minded and passionate creatives. Yes, there’s Dribbble, Behance etc but those are purely focused on design feedback/showcase. There were a couple of Slack channels but they seemed quite flat.
Since I’ve already built a decent following of designers through my social media, Twitter, Newsletter, Youtube, Dribbble etc I decided to give it a shot, and start my very own community and see how far I can take it.
3 weeks in and we’re over 1,500+ members, 50,000+ messages and we’re growing every day.
I have a lot planned for the future of The Designership. We’re working hard on rolling out some new sections to the website which will hopefully bring a ton of value to designers and founders from all around the world.
