The Case for Bitcoin

I wrote this book to explain Bitcoin and the trustless paradigm it introduces. I've spent considerable amounts of time responding to the most common arguments against Bitcoin, systematically dissecting and responding to Bitcoin's critics. I wanted to share the passion I feel for decentralized solutions. The Case for Bitcoin focuses on the economic and social implications of trustlessness. What form of money ought we to have in the 21st century? How does the Blockchain work? What are the pitfalls and danger areas for Bitcoin? I've also dabbled in futurology. Starting from the example of the Blockchain, what other amazing things can be built from similar principles? I explore concepts that are not yet real but are merely conceptual, such as cryptographic finance, decentralized identity systems, machines owning other machines, and more. Most of all, I wanted to condense my passion for Bitcoin and its broad implications into a single book. I have sought to draw upon history, computer science, and a number of other fields to assess Bitcoin the currency and the paradigm in the right context.

@eriktorenberg Thanks for the interest Erik! There is a section devoted to futuristic use cases of Blockchain technology. You can do a lot more with a Blockchain than just currency and payments. You can control property. You can empower machines to own things, even each other. You can own stocks and bonds. You can have a personal, provable identity that is cryptographic (and not owned by Google or Facebook). And there are a few other far-out ideas like homomorphic organisms. Hopefully it'll be plenty to chew on! While much of the book is about the 'ideal currency' and the implications of trustlessness, there's some fun exploration of crazy stuff one could build using the principles of Bitcoin-the-currency.
