Simply text any image from your phone to 1-917-905-1015 (via WhatsApp or just plain ol' text message) and we'll quickly send you back a private link to buy a framed canvas-printed copy of that pic that you can hang up at home or send to a loved one as a gift!
Hey community,
YT here - builder of Text To Frame It. Been burning the midnight oil building this over the past couple of months and finally think it's time to put it out there. I've shared it with family and friends up to this point and incorporated their feedback and now I'm unleashing it into the wild to get yours.
The premise is pretty simple - simply text message any image on your phone to a phone number I've setup via Twilio (917-905-1015) and the phone number will respond back with a private (but, shareable) link to a Shopify page where you can purchase a framed copy of the image. In fact, there are a few framed options + things like puzzles, and more (all with the photo you shared printed on it).
The items are typically delivered in about 1 calendar week +/- a couple days ... usually on the "+" side though. Kindly be patient as I figure out ways to make this even faster!
Let me know if you have any questions by responding here or emailing me directly at yt@texttoframe.it!
@lokesh_singh6 - Truly appreciate the offer and enthusiasm, Lokesh. I remember being a hungry 2nd year student as well. Wish you much luck!
For better or worse, I'm going to keep iterating solo until I find the perfect product-market-fit. Probably easier that way for the time being.
Hi, YT; congratulations on launching Text To Frame It! 🙌
I'm intrigued by the concept of turning any image into a framed print so seamlessly. One question that comes to mind is regarding the privacy of the shared images. How do you ensure that the images sent to your service remain private and secure throughout the process?
@af1que1 Thanks for the most important question of all!
The simplest way to think about the privacy is to compare this to a Google Doc that you create or a YouTube video that you upload that is only available to those with the direct URL. In other words, it's not available when you search online on any platform and only available to those that have received the direct URL. In this case, that URL is the one that's shared with the initial user that requested the framed pic over text.
Now, more techie details without sharing enough that allows people to actively try to crack it, but still open to feedback & ways to make it even more secure ...
1) The pics a user sends via WhatsApp/SMS are uploaded to a secure access-controlled repository & discarded from WhatsApp's/Twilio's systems shortly after.
2) I *heavily* modified the Shopify theme to do a few things ... To show product images from that secure access-controlled repo instead of the default public repo that Shopify pulls from otherwise ... To prevent searching of products on the site ... To prevent viewing product collections on the site ... To prevent the product pages from being indexed on search engines. And, some other things.
3) I attach a unique one-time hash to each generated product link. And, only those that have access to that hash can see the product page. Those without it see an error message.
A few questions back to you:
What do you think? Any open questions? Anything you think I can do better? Would love to nail this piece to make sure people are super comfortable.
Note: I'm also considering auto-deleting/deactivating generated product URLs within X days of creation. What do you think is a good number of days?
