Welcome to Television: an app that could only exist for Vision Pro, where you watch your content on any TV from a growing collection of vintage CRTs to modern day flatscreens you can mount on your wall or float in your space. It's the future of television.
You ever sit around with your Apple computer strapped to your face, remembering how cool it used to be to watch stuff on a television?
I did. So I had an idea for the Vision Pro: watch my stuff on a cool TV—in fact, a collection of cool TVs—that I can instantly move around to anywhere in my space because they aren't even real, they just feel like they are. This...I thought to myself...is the future of television. And I'll call it “Television”.
If you spent $4,000 on a Vision Pro, the very fair price of this app might be the $ you spend that makes you feel great about it. There's something about watching stuff on a TV and not a weightless digital window that makes content feel more...substantial. I know you feel me on this.
In Television 1.0, you can watch your own content from your Media Library or iCloud Drive, but we've already got YouTube working in beta and we want to polish it up before releasing it. After that, we'll keep adding more content streams, as many as we can, and adding more TV models, as many as we can. Then...SharePlay. Watch Television with friends like it's the 1990s again.
We want to make Television just as good as the best TV in your living room. And I sure hope you like the idea and will give us an Upvote. You're the best.
So whimsical. Adam, you rock sir! Now I know what the SJ biography was referring to.
“I’d like to create an integrated television set that is completely easy to use... It would be seamlessly synced with all of your devices and with iCloud... It will have the simplest user interface you could imagine. I finally cracked it.”
