Sunflower helps you rewire your brain to associate sobriety with reward by combining visual progression tracking & modified Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Every day you stay sober, you earn a flower. It comes with a journal to track cravings & activities. :)
Hello Product Hunt friends, anyone looking to be sober in 2022? :)
From about the time I was 19-24 I smoked weed just about every day. I told myself it wasn't an issue because I had a great job, that it wasn't addicting. Turns out when I finally tried to stop smoking, it WAS addicting, and it sucked.
I spent the next ~2 years trying to quit. I would stop for a month or two, then consistently relapse into every day usage.
The thing that almost every "quit app" gets wrong, is that it's not enough to simply stop using. Any kind of substance abuse teaches your brain to associate the substance with reward. The real trick to actually quitting is to train your brain that reward should come from healthy places like exercise, social activity, and learning, instead of your drug of choice.
This is what made a real impact for me, I quit smoking, but then learned to replace it with exercise and programming. I had always wanted to code but it's really hard to learn new things when you're high 24/7.
Sunflower "rewards" you with a flower for every day you stay sober. It also provides a journal! When you have cravings, it takes you through an exercise based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. When you do something rewarding (exercise, learning, etc), it offers an exercise to help reinforce the positive activity with reward.
I built this iOS app for myself almost a year ago, and I still use it almost every day to help stay sober. It's completely free, and I hope it can help anyone else struggling with addiction.
Note: Currently only supported for iphone (not ipad or Android), more updates to come in 2022!
