Hi guys! I’m one of the Co-Founders of StreamLi. I’m excited to share what we’ve been working on and get your feedback. The mission of StreamLi is to build a service which allows users to easily create requests for live streaming of video from any location in the World, hire local broadcasters and get exclusive live video content. We want to empower users to explore the World in a new way, their way, and see places and events in real time.
We realized that beside generic, one-to-many, live streams that most of the current services like Periscope provide, users more and more are looking for personalized viewing experience that can fulfill their
specific needs when it comes to live streaming content.
The App allows users to both, get live streams of whatever they want from any location in
the World and also provide live streams for others. Broadcast should be payed with money or Reward
points( users can earn points by providing service for other members).
Through Explore feature of the App users are be able to browse locations and see
recommendations for attractions, events etc. at each of the places.
We’re super-excited to share StreamLi with the PH community. We’re offering Product Hunt's exclusive FREE requests for a live stream with the code PHSTREAMLI. We’re here if you have any questions.
Cheers,
Sam
@sambegic Thanks for the exclusive free requests offered to product hunters.
Would love to watch the Swiss Alps, Niagara falls .. Eiffel tower and the list would go on.
Q1- How does StreamLi compare/ differentiate with a similar app called Look?
Q2- What happens if Facebook incorporates a similar feature in it's app/ messenger, where users can choose a location and request for a live stream (may be for free..)?
@anodigital I am speaking about incorporating a feature in an app that's already used by millions around the world (Facebook App). How would StreamLi differentiate at such a situation was my question to @sambegic 😀
@adithya Q1- In a core: both apps are new, exploring similar concept. There are many use cases for this type of apps and it comes down to right execution and value proposition to the users.
Q2- Definitely, live streaming field is exploding and there are many opportunities for different application of it. I see Facebook Live, Periscope etc. primarily staying as a one-to-many type of broadcasts with main focus on commercial use such as business promotion, celebrities etc. 99% of the broadcasts, the actual broadcaster is a "story" , " the actor"( most of them not really fit for that role). You, as user have only option to watch what is available( as on TV) or turn it off. That is where app like Streamli fits in. To conclude, I think that app, specifically tailored to Live Stream by request will have strong user base even if Facebook, etc add some ( most likely vague) version of this concept to their existing apps.
This reminded me of Collision conference, Jeff Glueck from Foursquare made a comment that went something like, what if you could ask others at an event to start livestreaming it so you could watch it since you couldn't make it. I'm very interested in the location-based space. How are you planning on building up the user base?
