I've been seeing the Swedish startup seen talking about Stilla for a while, but now with this Techcrunch article, they are getting global exposure!
It's a great example of this kind of products that make you think about so many use cases right away.
@elkehag please tell us more about it! Why did you build it? Is Stilla your first IoT-ish startup?
@gregoiregilbert Hi Greg, I came up with the idea of Stilla Motion when I learned how to program Arduino boards last year. I dropped the board on my bag by mistake, and when I picked it up the LED started blinking. Then I thought it would be great if it did something more than just blink to notify me of the movement.
I have often been worried about my belongings in public places, so I wanted to find a way to instantly get alerted if someone messed with my things. I couldn’t find a suitable solution for my problem on the market, so I decided to make one myself. I hope you will like it. I love mine!
This is very interesting. So it works on battery that is replaceable or chargeable? And needs Wifi? Otherwise it doesn't work is that correct? Can you elaborate a bit on that?
@cemedericarak Hi Cem, No it has a coin cell battery that lasts up to 6-12 months depending on usage, and it is easily rechargeable. No, the portable version Stilla Motion connects via BLE Smart, so you don't need WiFi. I hope that answers your questions. =) Elin
It seems very interesting. I've been looking for an easy solution to add an alarm to my door recently but I can't afford very expensive alarm systems. Plus, Stilla is apparently working on a system to connect the Stilla Motion to wifi, it might be a good option for me. Nice design and nice price.
@syswarren Thank you Julie for your kind words! Yes, that is a really good use case for Stilla. That is my teammate Niclas favorite use for Stilla as well. We hope you will like it!
