Hi Product Hunt! I'm Adam Elitzur, the creator of Songlingo.
I'm a junior in high school who has always loved learning languages, and listening to music in new languages. Songlingo has been really helpful with my own language learning journey, as now I don't have to manually look up song translations anymore!
I made Songlingo during Buildspace's 6 week Nights & Weekends program, and am constantly iterating and trying to improve it!
What's your favorite song and are you learning any languages?
Adam, congratulations on the launch! 🎊 Simple, but really cool solution for everyday life and studying languages! I was pleasantly surprised that many languages are already available at the start - great👍🏻How do you plan to develop your product further? And how many songs approximately available in Songlingo? Are there any limits what compositions are missing?

My next steps for Songlingo are to add authentication, so users can save words, and songs, get a streak, and have a leaderboard!
I am using a lyrics API to fetch the lyrics for a song, it has many songs, but unfortunately not every song. I am working on adding support for more songs and expanding the database of songs.

I often look up translation to my favorite Nigerian songs and it helps me learn Yoruba. I tried it real quick with the Spanish song Suavemente and this is amazing! This would allow for so much recreational learning. And it's got a clean UI.
I love this. I just chose a random song, so I didn't really play with any specific functionality but I think it's a great idea. If you want any UI design help I know someone. I know a few people really. But I love that you are focusing on the concept first and getting in front of people to test. This is far more valuable (to me) than even something like dualingo. I prefer being entertained when I learn. :)
Songlingo is a great site, congrats! I like to select French or Spanish under 'Random Song Language' and then select English under 'Translation Language' and hit the Random Song button which gives me awesome French and Spanish songs with English translation so I now know what the song's about! :) I hope to also improve my French and Spanish this way. The site is really fun to use and I found best on laptop or on phone in horizontal position to get the translation side by side with the original words. Great job!
