An interactive map allowing users to explore the path of totality for the April 8th, 2024 Total Solar Eclipse in North America. The map displays risk levels for areas along the path, helping users find a good area to plan their viewing visit.
In 2017, Stephen and I were able to experience the life-changing event that is a Total Solar Eclipse. It's a day that I will never forget and one that I cannot possible put into words. Since then, I have only wanted others to get to experience the same day for themselves. The Solar Eclipse App is a tool to help with that goal.
We are less than a year away from the 2024 total solar eclipse, which will be the last total solar eclipse to enter the US until 2044. It occurs in April, a time which has high weather variability in North America. The app will help users understand weather risk in specific areas. We also highlight parks and community events on the map.
We hope the Solar Eclipse App can encourage people to make plans to travel and see this truly remarkable event.
