SocialBubble shows how Twitter feeds can alter your perception of reality depending on where you are on the political spectrum. It encourages you to step outside of your own echo chamber and understand how people are influenced by their use of social media.
Hi Hunters! 👋
My weekend project before the US elections has been to work on a tool that lets you browse Twitter from any side of the political spectrum.
I decided to work on this when I realised that Twitter can really shape your perception of reality based on what political accounts you follow. Algorithms can easily turn slight preferences into a polarised environment.
We have now become so ideologically divided that it’s almost impossible to imagine what the reality looks like to someone who doesn’t share our views.
SocialBubble tries to break the danger of confirmation bias by showing you what a Twitter feed can look like from all sides of the political spectrum. It encourages you to step outside of your own echo chamber and try to understand how other people might be influenced by their use of social media.
Have fun browsing!
