SnapSpaces allows event hosts to customize and host their own web page for crowdsourcing photos from their guests (Weddings, etc.). Each site includes 250 cards (3.5"x2.5") that match your theme, and are mailed to you directly for distribution at your event.
This has the potential to become a very simple solution for a growing privacy conscious demographic who are leaving social sharing sites like FB and IG, however you need to remove the $79 barrier to entry in order to establish your proof of viability as an MVP. Once you have users, you can use analytics and feedback mechanisms to gain insights for improvement, after which you can roll out a fully fleshed version with premium packages for income generation. Happy to discuss more with you.
@gregory_wehmeyer Thanks! I have the ability to issue partner codes to that end. I am working with a few wedding & event photographers right now as they have so far been a group that is interested in including this in various photography packages they offer to their own clients.
SnapSpaces was originally built as a surprise wedding gift for my cousin. I was looking at their registry but I wanted to give them something more unique.
People used to leave disposable cameras out at their wedding reception for guests, but that is both expensive and a lot of work in an age where everyone has a quality camera at their fingertips (their phone).
At the time I built a little one-off site to collect photos from their guests at the rehearsal dinner and wedding, and I made business cards with the site QR code and left them on the tables and bars throughout the event. If we did it all over we would have sent them home with the party favors, but we had over 500 photos contributed by their wedding guests.
After their wedding several people asked about getting sites for their friends or loved ones. A few weddings, 50th birthday parties, and other events later: here we are.
I'm excited about it because it fits into a nice niche. A professional photographer can't be everywhere at once, and they don't generally capture the same type of candid and silly group photos. Instagram handles are really popular for weddings but generally no one uploads their silly bloopers and stuff on instagram, and it is difficult to download any photos for personal use or long term personal storage by design. Leaving disposable cameras out at your event can capture some of the fun and silly stuff but they are pretty expensive and a hassle by the time you buy, distribute, collect, and develop them all-- particularly when most people have a smart phone with a higher quality camera anyway. The other option is corralling all your friends to send you photos after the fact which can be like herding cats, and you never know if someone's date or a person you otherwise wouldn't be able to get them from afterwards took some great snaps.
You only need an account to host a site. Your guests just scan your QR code and visit your site to upload, they won't need an account to contribute photos to the site you host, and you can download all of the photos people contributed at any time afterwards.
SnapSpaces can be used for any type of event but weddings are how we came into existence, and I hope people enjoy using it!
The $80 price tag is hefty, is this per event? I could see a bride splurging for this but not the average person who hosts an event. Great idea overall but similar to other tools already out there that are free.
@ni_e_sha Yes, it is per site you host. We include 250 event cards for distribution in that price and have production and mailing costs associated with it that we have produced and mailed to the customer directly so guests can easily access the site via QR code.
I do understand where you are coming from but it is really geared towards weddings and events that have been planned well in advance, where the host would like to collect memories from the guests. The kinds of events where this price point is pretty negligible 1) compared to the amount they have already spent putting on the event and 2) the convenience of having a custom hosted site where we sent the event cards directly to them and we also don't require their guests to have any friction like creating an account or downloading something that might a barrier to entry getting people to actually contribute and submit photos.
