P.S – It’s a service we have tailored to best serve UK customers but those in other territories should see some benefit too (subscriptions only, not other bills), as non-UK banks are supported.

Thanks for your interest. No we will never charge you any money for this service - it's completely free.
We will never even ask you for your card details.
We will aim to monetise in the future, if users by cheaper products from us and we will get referral commisions from the product providers themselves.

We are actually using a 3rd Party API provider called Yodlee operating under Bank Level Security protocols and who have secure partnerships directly with many major financial institutions. Hence we never store your online banking credentials on our servers.
As far as Yodlee goes, they have a completely spotless security record after 17 years in operation, are regulated by the U.S banking regulators and are used by large corporate companies like Money Supermarket should that put your mind at ease?
Safety and security was one of our primary concerns when we put SmartBill together so decided to go with the largest and most trusted API provider we could find. We didn't skimp on costs in that department at all!

@martin_zlocha so interesting you say that. When my setup looked like that, people were less likely to do it because they thought it looked even more like a phishing scam. Take a look at Plaid.com and let me know your thoughts on their approach
@itsthisjustin@martin_zlocha Yes that is really interesting. Note that from 2018 UK banks will be opening up their API's so we will be able to link directly :-)
