I like the idea but the results from my first three searches were disappointing:
Sorry @jason, we could not find an image for news. Try searching Flickr for images that allow commercial use and modification (verify all rights before using).

@jdemorrow Hey, thanks for checking it out. The Unsplash library is small but growing. It does best with objects, places, people, nature, colors, etc. It is pretty good with some work related actions "meet". I keep waiting for someone to upload a high-res image of a taco. As a fallback I bring up a link to Flickr for that search. I don't show a preview of a Flickr image yet (they're not as reliably good) but it is something I'm considering adding.
@calc@jdemorrow Got it, I've never used unsplash before, which is why I was mistakenly expecting this to work like RightGIF. I see now you're targeting a different audience with higher quality (but sparser) images. Are you planning on adding other sources?
@jdemorrow If there is a good source that I'm able to add and if there is demand it would be fun to do. It would be nice to fill in edge cases so there are always results. Also, Unsplash will just get better.
This is an elegant implementation of @unsplash's API for Slack - simply type /photo [keyword] and you end up with a great visual. The content from Unsplash is quite good (we're incorporating a lot of it in @wandertab as well) and I'm a big fan of the creator, @calc !
Thanks, @gillianim!
Slack is creating an incredible, versatile platform. The primary reason I built this was simply to learn more about how it works.
Unsplash is the first resource I visit when I'm looking for a royalty free photo.
Slash Photo is a side/learning project that brings together two products that I love and solves a simple need.
For those interested in building with Slack or Unsplash I posted some of the key source code to Github and will add more detail as time allows. https://github.com/slashphoto
I look forward to any feedback 😀
