Slack Secret Santa is a tool to organize and throw a Secret Santa inside your Slack Team. You pick some buddies from the list, add a custom message and we pick who is gonna gift who. Everyone gets a message from Slack Bot and that's it. Nothing is stored, and the app is open source!
@golear No sorry it's only for Slack at the moment, but the core functionality is pretty simple and could be used to build applications for various team management products. The project is open-source too: https://github.com/jolicode/slac...
Do I have to already gather who has opted out before inviting team members or does it allow you to invite everyone and people to choose to not participate?
@cojovo Hi Courtney, as everyone get his gift buddy name right away, nobody can opt-out after the fact (or a new shuffle would be needed). So yes you have to make sure everybody wants to play before running the app. Thanks for question!
@damienalexandre And there's no way to cancel one already started? I don't have admin rights to install slackbots and the user who does started it off with a check all, so now consultants got matches 😳
@cojovo There is nothing to "stop", this app only send one private message to each participant (with the name of the teammate they must offer something) and that's it. If messages have been received, you may need to notify everyone they should not be taken into account manually.
Let me know if there is anything we can do to help!
Just set it up for my company! Pro tip for anyone that wants to do this: be careful about what you include in the markdown writeup. My message included "<=" in the budget description, which made something barf and cut off most of my message. Otherwise, worked like a charm!
