I would like to introduce you to a simple and fun app called Skrlla. This is the first experiment to build an ecosystem of products whose goal is to hack the value of $1 and turn it into a catalyst for broad impact. Skrlla is the fastest way to send or request $1 with your friends or send $1 to one of our charity partners. Login with your Venmo account, tap HIT to request $1 or tap SKRLLA to send $1, you can also add an optional message.
A few other notes about Skrlla:
- This has been a side project for us during the past couple of months, we believe this is the first layer and would love your help to understand what direction to go moving forward

IMPORTANT UPDATE: currently when you donate to one of the charities my name comes up as receiving the donation. This is for two reasons 1) on Venmo charities cannot create their own accounts yet 2) to create less work FOR the charities we are acting as the middleman, receiving donations on their behalf.

@manasvinik the purpose of being big and red is for its quick identification and actuation, there is also a playful component to it which is in line with the simplicity and mood of our app. As for the technology behind, the button is a simple low cost circuit with an iBeacon antenna, a timer and a battery. When the button is pressed all the nearby phones with the Skrlla app installed receive a notification that invites the users to send $1 to one of our charity partners. Thanks for your question!

Also, how do you plan to get more charities on-board with Skrlla at scale? Would be great if I'm able to find and donate to any charity of choice.
@gabsong we were inspired by @jaltucher who talks about the concept that small change everyday becomes big change overtime. So we experimented with using 1% of our time to create a product that leverages the power of $1 to create big impact. He discusses this in detail in his latest book "The Choose Yourself Guide To Wealth" which I highly recommend!
Great question, that was also what inspired us to build this product. There is no shortage of great charities that could use donations. We've had already many charities reach out and ask to get involved and we excited about helping as many as possible.
Moving forward we would like to implement a feature where Skrlla users can add charities to the app on their own profiles. A simple way for our users to promote and support their favorite charities.
@robertoscaccia any plans to also leverage the power of non-financial contribution (i.e. "a share")? both for skrlla own growth, but also to increase awareness of charities/communities needs
