Singing Carrots

Self-study singing on budget

Singing Carrots is an educational game - like Duolingo, but to learn singing. It helps to study theory, practice pitch-matching and tempo, measure and extend vocal range, find songs to sing, etc. You get instant visual feedback when you sing into the mic.

My wife is very confused why I'm singing at work. Mission accomplished 😹 The product is really nice. I might try to grab more attention upfront from users with the vocal range test. I love the comparisons to famous singers — that is really clever. I wonder how difficult it would be to create some sort of TikTok filter where people could "share their range"

@product_at_producthunt, haha "My wife is very confused why I'm singing at work. " - is probably one of the best testimonials I could get.

@product_at_producthunt I was thinking to integrate it with TikTok or Reels but didn't come up with exact shape. Tried to offer posting an image with test results on Instagram, but that didn't really work well. Thanks for the idea. I'll explore it more.

Meet Singing Carrots - the place to study and practice singing online. ✍️ The problem Singing education is suboptimal in many ways: - Singing teachers are expensive and might not be available in some regions. - Zoom/skype classes close the geo gap but do not cover the need for instant feedback during the daily practice routine. - A lot of students struggle with self-motivation and confidence issues. - There is a lot of learning material available for free on YouTube and for money on paid resources, but it all works only for "the most common voice". Vocal exercises and songs picked for singing practice should fit the physiological specifics and the skill level of each individual student. 💡 The solution Use modern technology to tackle the education process step by step: 1. Asses the voice level - measure vocal range, pitch & tempo accuracy with online tests. 2. Provide vocal exercises - adjusted to the student profile (E.g. vocal warm-ups are using the notes that you can actually sing based on your voice test results.) 3. Help with picking the right songs - with Singing Carrots you can search for songs and artists by their vocal range and pick the ones that actually fit you. 3. Explain how it all works - provide educational reads and videos. 4. Track progress & keep motivated - that's why it's shaped like a game! Earn points, compete with other players, watch stats! 5. Back to step 1 - close the loop =) 👻 Education can be fun. Especially when we talk about music. Just go play around and let me know what you think. A lot of the features are completely free! P. S. I've been bootstrapping this product for the last 2 years, started monetizing around a year ago, and since then have been experiencing steady growth. I wasn't really thinking of Product Hunt as a steady user acquisition channel cause always saw it as a great platform for rather B2B businesses. Hence such a late launch. What are your thoughts on this? Have you heard of some recent edTech B2C companies that turned out to be a success?
