What do you think? …

This is cool, but I'm having trouble deciding (albeit in the 5 minutes I've been clicking around) what I'd employ SideProjects for that I wouldn't get with ProductHunt. Seems like both: * showcase what you're working on * have ability to get feedback * upvote / downvote for featuring popular content * have categories * have profile Curious what you believe the main differentiators are!

Some other feedback: * After you register as a new user there's a delay before getting redirected to your original page before sign in * I think it's weird that in a specific post, the post title still links to the same (current) page even when it's a link post. Figured it would lead to the link in the same way that Hacker News does.

@sirhamy It's a legitimate question and I'm glad you asked. Whilst the platforms are similar in purpose, I think it's the content that's posted to our platform that makes us a bit different. SideProjects is for people that want to share their side projects (which typically aren't polished/ready for production) and solicit early-stage feedback. And as you know, most of the stuff you see on ProductHunt are actual products that are ready to use/scale, so we felt that there was this niche gap that could be filled & help people get a bit of exposure/feedback before they commit to turning their side project into an actual product. Also all projects land on the front page no matter how big or how small :) Edit: You're also able to repost your side project every week as long as you've been making updates/changes to it

@sirhamy As far as the registration thing, it might have to do with the fact that there's quite a few people registering simultaneously, so I'd have to look into it. And for your second remark, that's actually what we had in v1 (https://old.sideprojects.net) but we realized that people wouldn't actually engage with the post itself so we changed it so titles redirect to the post instead of the poster's website. The link to their site is right below the post title though.
