Shotomatic captures, schedules and scripts screenshots on Mac so you can archive your favorite content, create timelapses, record bug reports and tutorials without lifting a finger.
I often wanted to save or process long eBooks or articles β either to archive them or feed them into AI tools like ChatGPT. Doing it manually was slow and annoying, so I built a macOS app to automate the whole process.
Hereβs what it can do: β Capture screenshots at a custom interval (ex. every 500ms) β Simulate key presses between shots (like arrow keys or page down) β Capture entire screen, specific window, or custom area
I mainly use it to archive stuff or feed into ChatGPT/Claude. Thought it might be useful for others doing something similar!
@wooing0306 This is awesome β love how you turned a common hassle into a smooth automated workflow! Saving and processing long reads with ease is a game-changer, especially for AI tools. Thanks for sharing Shotomatic, can already see a lot of uses for this!
@wooing0306 this looks super clean! been looking for something like this for ages
honestly feels like a much smarter version of canva's video tools - way more focused on what actually matters for product demos. the ai suggestions are pretty solid too, saves me from overthinking every single cut.
we've been struggling to repurpose our long-form demo videos for different platforms and this might be exactly what we needed. instagram stories, tiktok, linkedin posts - all have different aspect ratios and it's been such a pain manually editing everything.
excited to test this with our upcoming feature launch videos! the batch processing looks like it'll save us hours.
congrats on the launch team, this is gonna help so many product folks like us
@pritraveler Thank you! Thatβs exactly one of the use cases I had in mind β grabbing slides from viewer-only decks or tools that donβt allow downloads.
Following Auto Shot, here's Key Snap - the second half of my Shotomatic-inspired vision. I appreciated how Shotomatic combined automatic capture and hotkey screenshots, but splitting these into two focused apps creates a cleaner workflow. Huge thanks to Shotomatic for inspiring both projects!
