👋 Hey, ProductHunt--so excited to share Shot O'Clock with you all! Ryan and I launched Shot O'Clock to a bunch of Facebook vaccine support groups a few weeks ago and since then we've helped thousands of people with local vaccine availability alerts, with ~85% of users reporting they were able to find an appointment. The process is super simple--you just fill out a form with your zip code, max distance, and email, and we'll send you alerts whenever availability pops up near you so that you don't have to waste time refreshing all day. (We supported SMS at launch as well, but we ended up disabling it after unexpected demand and finding that email was just as effective from exit surveys, at ~1/10 the cost) We also operate Twitter bots in a few states (directory at https://twitter.com/CovidShotOCl...). Something we're especially proud 🤩 of is our addition of maps (powered by Google Maps) of the locations in our tweets to improve the UX and understandability--one issue we found with existing vaccine availability bots was that it was difficult to figure out if any unfamiliar cities were close enough to get to. As a part of building Shot O'Clock, we also built vax.to: memorable vaccine appointment shortlinks (great for sending to those having difficulty signing up for appointments online). A large focus of building Shot O'Clock was privacy--we collect minimal information (e.g. only coarse zipcode locations and contact info) and explicitly don't use collected information for any purpose other than to help our users find vaccine appointments. Looking forward, we're planning on open-sourcing Shot O'Clock so that anyone can easily spin up vaccine alerts for the wider international community as vaccine availability in other countries starts to open up.
