Shape is a lucid dreaming app for iOS β featuring audio guides for the technique of waking up within the dreamworld, Am-I-Dreaming reminders for cultivating the habit of questioning reality, and a dream journal designed for nighttime.
@daryllman I do! I'll need to first work out some kinks and improve the app, then find a developer. I understand a lot of lucid dreamers are using Android instead of iOS β so this is pretty important!
Hey Product Hunt! I'm Arthur Van Siclen, the creator of Shape.
I learned to lucid dream as a teenager sent off to boarding school. It was a strict environment, so if I wanted to fulfill the sense of adventure I felt, I had to do it internally, within the space of the mind. Within a few weeks I had my first lucid dream and caught a glimpse of this life-changing technique.
If you're new to this, lucid dreaming is the art of awakening within the dreamworld, to realize that you're dreaming. Once aware of the nature of the dream, controlling the dream is easy: you can fly, practice difficult skills, overcome fears, meditate, anything.

There are three main components to learning to lucid dream, and the Shape app covers all of them ->
1 / Become familiar with the dreamworld by keeping a dream journal. Shapeβs dream journal is designed for nighttime and encourages dreamers to let go of precision and just write. My suggestion is to be disciplined until you remember two or more dreams each night.
2 / Form a habit of questioning reality and performing state tests. Am-I-dreaming reminders are delivered 1-4 times per day, at random. Upon receiving a reminder (or anytime you experience something even just a little bit odd) perform a state test and find out if youβre dreaming. Be sincere, as this habit carries into the dreamworld.
3 / Strengthen resolve, deepen awareness, and soften the mind with meditation. Shapeβs audio guides cover the technique of lucid dreaming in detail: performing state tests, becoming present, activating intentions, inducing lucid dreams, and more. These techniques draw on the Tibetan yoga tradition, a deep well of insight into the art of lucid dreaming, and extensively utilize the technique of yoga nidra. Itβs 100% learnable.

I first learned to lucid dream as a teenager at school and later studied yoga in India, Bhutan, and Nepal, eventually getting a university degree in yoga. The Shape app is a culmination of the techniques I find useful. Over the coming weeks and months I hope to add more audio guides centered around the Tibetan Buddhist philosophies (which deeply weave through the technique of lucid dreaming) as well as features like an βachievementsβ checklist and βdream signβ tracking.
Why learn to lucid dream? As humans we sleep for more than 30% of our lives; lucid dreaming allows us to activate a huge portion of that time. Lucid dreamers more easily learn skills, overcome fears, and conduct deep personal work. In my opinion, the greatest benefit of lucid dreaming is an opening of the mind and softening of perspective that makes it easier to see reality clearly. Finally, lucid dreaming is incredibly fun.

Iβve been beta testing Shape over the summer and this is by far the best app for lucid dreaming. The audio instruction is immersive, the state test reminders help me know whether Iβm dreaming or not, and the dream journal makes remembering dreams easy. This trifecta builds the habits and skills that are essential to learning the art of lucid dreaming. Also, the design is insaneβ¦Havenβt seen anything like it. Well done.
Congrats on the launch!
