Keep your favorite old clothes w/ sentimental value, but that you'll never wear, without taking up closet space. Save them to your wallet as free NFTs on the Polygon blockchain and never forget your past self. (Optional: donate some MATIC when you mint!)
What's up ya'll. Longtime lurker but first time I've decided to plunge into launching one of my dumb, but fun projects on PH!
So I bring you Save My Shirt!
I've had a box of clothes in my closet for years that I just keep adding to, but never take anything out to wear. They're all the t-shirts and jerseys and clothes tied to sentimental memories that I can't just get rid of, but are essentially just taking up space. And really, all I need is something to tickle my memories from these moments in life. And I've found that usually, a picture is more than enough. So why am I wasting all that precious closet space when I could just save a picture of the shirts? And better yet, why not save the shirt permanently as an NFT on a blockchain and IPFS? That way, whenever I need a hit of nostalgia, I can just take a look in my wallet and be taken back!
I originally wanted to allow users to donate and have their native MATIC automatically sent to an environmental or apparel-related non-profit. But it turns out, I haven't been able to find any which accept native MATIC (which is what I need, since it's on the Polygon blockchain). So I've still allowed users to donate MATIC (optional, otherwise mints are FREE) into the contract, and once more non-profits accept native MATIC, I will transfer the contract balance to a chosen non-profit (if anyone has a good non-profit that accepts native MATIC, would love to know!).
I'm slowly going to work on converting that box in my closet into SMS NFTs, and I'd love to see some of the shirts that ya'll are keeping in your closets too, so please join me!
This is cool. I have a shirt from 2011 that I don't wear but have kept it for historical purpose (actually can't wear because if I wear it, it would become multiple pieces of a shirt). It's the team shirt when India won cricket World Cup in 2011 after 28 years
@abhishek1846 That's a treasure for sure! That definitely sounds like it needs to be preserved and those memories kept forever! Some of my favorite shirts that I keep but never wear are from sports championship games (sadly, my teams have always lost those game haha). Thanks for sharing the story of your prized shirt, I love hearing it!
