The SaaS 1000 is a list that highlights the top growing SaaS companies based on a proprietary algorithm that includes hiring trends, growth indicators and number of employees. We have created a seamless algorithm that tracks a SaaS company’s 6 month employee-size growth, and overall employee size, to come up with the SaaS 1000 ranking.

Interesting. Why only companies with more than 40 employees?
Thomas Smale
@danielkempe thanks! We find that once companies hit around 40 employees, they start reporting employee numbers more reliably. Below that it's harder to reliably track and verify the data. For our next list, we're going to test using some different data sources and ways of tracking that data. Ideally we would like small companies to be able to get on this list (say, 10 employees) but right now we can be confident with the accuracy of our data. We also could have used other similar numbers (e.g. 30 or 50). Thanks for the feedback!

Very helpful for marketing as this helps us establish who to target for the next 6 months!

Pros:

Super helpful! Great to see this information which is very usually hard to come by!

Cons:

Should be monthly :)

This is a massive list, thanks for the huge work on this. Is the data self reported?
Thomas Smale
@federicojorge thank you very much, the team have been working hard at this for months now :) With regards to data, it is manually researched and pulled from a number of sources to make sure it is as accurate as possible. It will be difficult to make it 100% accurate, particularly as head count can change so quickly in small companies (hence why we do the list quarterly, not yearly) but we have found it is more accurate than letting companies tell us themselves and not verifying.
