👋 Howdy Hunters, My name is Tony and I'm super excited to share a small and fun desktop app (Mac for now only) to start completing all of your goals this year, called Rooster Day. This is my story... I'm obsessed with these three areas: Self-improvement, Family time, and Building SaaS every now and then. Every time I start something, either I do not 100% finish it, I start procrastinating, or I go out and indulge myself with activities with friends every weekend, it's soo much on my plate these days that I put aside many of the things that can help me grow as an individual, and most of the vision I have for the year just gets postponed for next year... and the cycle continues... Science Fact: Did you know, according to science, only 8% of people achieve their goals? Anyways, back to the story... Last year I decided to grab a piece of paper, and write down a few goals following the S.M.A.R.T. methodology (Google it, it is pretty interesting), and decided to give it a go, thinking, well now that my goals are in a sheet of paper, at least I start visually creating a roadmap for success. Wrong... :( So what happened? Well, even though I knew what my goals were, a combination of not having the right habits, and not being consistent with achieving my goals, perhaps a lack of determination, lack of motivation, or just completing daily tasks without some sense of urgency was a determinant factor (remember, habits ≠ goals). So what changed? Well, I got tired without even trying, so I decided to make myself accountable and started coding my way out and start building (with the help of 15 years of coding experience and yeah some ChatGPT) my own goal tracker application that I could use and start visualizing (this is the most important factor to track something) my goals on a daily basis. After completing the app (remember at this point it was only me that was using this), I started noticing that I was able to complete my goals very easily, visualizing every step of the way, tracking each goal, and actually felt bad if I skipped a day. After a few weeks, I started adding more features, such as a calendar chart to track consistency, the number of daily check-ins, and the longest streak days on a given goal. I started noticing that this was actually fun and held me accountable to actually complete my goals. Now that I have used Rooster Day, I started to share the app with a few of my friends, my son, cousins, and a few strangers... So far they have at least completed a goal each, and that to me is amazing! This for me right here is a win, a huge one, if this little desktop app can help them visualize their goals and achieve them, from start to finish, this makes my day. After a few days of feeling enlightened about my friends and family achieving at least their goals, and after realizing, "Wow, this really helped me achieve my goals", the next step was to get it out there, add some neat features, GAMIFY it, adding a chicken farm feature that you can grow and collect chickens and fam items, and all with the hope that it can do the same to you! And Rooster Day was born... So now you're thinking what is Rooster Day? Rooster Day is a small desktop app that lives in your desktop bar (a small chicken icon, just click it and it pops up a small window with tons of features you'll love), which helps you visualize and keep track of your goals, whether is a 1-day goal, or a year-long goal, this app has your back. With features that my friends, family and myself enjoy, and hopefully, you will too: - Multiple goal tracker - Goal checkpoints (think of them as sub-goals) - Individual goal roster - Consistency tracker - Daily check-ins - OS Notifications - A little chicken farm where you can start building up your farm by collecting rewards (Eggs) every time you check in, complete checkpoints, or finish up your goals. - There's more?
