Roar! is a free, open source, non-profit web extension that automatically captures a snapshot of any online issue and addresses a tweet to the site's maintainer. Turn a tweet into a Roar so experts and maintainers see the issue and offer solutions.
Hi all! I’m Will, the founder of More Human Internet, a non-profit organization of digital activists using web technologies to promote civility, transparency, and the greater good.
We’re incredibly excited to launch Roar! a free, open source browser extension to make it easier to give feedback online.
We’d be honored if you could try the extension and let us know what you think! All feedback is welcome and please reach out if you’re interested in volunteering with us!
@will_weiss1 love this idea — how will you get more people to find and use it? Do you need critical mass for it to be effective? And how do actually get the fixes made?
Thanks @chrismessina, great questions!
We’re planning on hosting the posted issues on our site and within the extension itself based on the site you’re currently on so that other people can see issues one another have posted and upvote one another. Bigger websites seem to be responsive to support issues they get on twitter, but others not so much, so at this stage getting others to see your tweet would help bring visibility.
As for the fixes getting made you’re still a bit at the mercy of the maintainers although we’re planning on making updates so that the tweet may optionally include a private link the maintainers can use to get additional information such as console logs, network traffic, etc. to help them debug the issue.
Great to have a tool like this when people having online issues and not knowing where to get help. I tested it by posting a message to Verizon Twitter handle along with a screenshot of my slow internet. Verizon support replied from Twitter at the same day. It actually worked!
