Rewind provides music fans with a unique way to discover music by traveling back in time to any year in music between 1959 and 2010. Fans can explore the different eras of music and the events that have shaped the music of today.
Hi there 👋🏻 I'm Ziad, the creator of Rewind. Thanks for checking my app out!
I am an app developer and I love making music related apps. Rewind is my new app that I've developed in my free time. It is a concept app about music time travel.
I’ve always been interested in how music has changed over time and the different events that shaped the music we know today. The idea started with imagining how your favorite music app would look like if you opened it and it's the year 1991? Or 1965? What are the tops? New album releases? Major artists? Or the rising stars?
To answer that, I started developing Rewind and curating music of the last 5 decades. It took a lot of research, reading and scripting to put this together! And of course I had to make the App UI change to present every decade. I wanted to offer a new and unique experience for music fans to discover new old music which is not only based on musical eras, but also has a little hint of nostalgia.
Rewind includes numerous features and will grow to be a unique place for music fans. Related to the "time travel" concept, Rewind now includes an "alternate universe" which is filled with A.I. generated music content!
Thanks again for checking Rewind. I hope you enjoy it! ❤️
Let me know if you have any feedback, I'd love to hear it:)
@kostyadoronin Thanks a lot Kostya!
Right now Rewind focuses on music. Yet video is also part of it. Not only does it feature music videos, but also historical videos like popular moments in music and interviews.
In regards to AR/XR, I haven't given it a lot of thoughts but of course it would be great if you could travel back to a record store in the 80s and browse through records stacks!
What are your thoughts in regards to AR/XR?
@ziad_halabi9 understand that this is a significant task. Let me briefly describe:
Listening to music from past years/eras, I immerse myself in my thoughts (histories studied at the university, books I've read). However, the majority of people are visual thinkers. Additionally, a visual representation is needed to complement the mental image formed in consciousness.
I am suggesting considering immersive immersion through AI-generated content from past eras. This involves accumulating a database with these elements to enable the AI to generate more realistic content.
Decided to share.
@kostyadoronin
That is very interesting.
One issue I found with capturing old footages is the commercial licensing is too significant. So your proposed AI solution might be a great alternative. If you open Rewind, click on the menu and select "Alternate Universe". There, you can find all A.I. generated content related to music. You can see some of the photos describe what you're saying. And some are just plain fun ideas to wonder about.
Check it out and let me know what you think!
Finally, you said "Decided to share.". Do you mean sharing Rewind? That would be very helpful, thank you!
@venky_venky4 Thanks for the comment!
The music is curated by genre for each year. So you can browse the Rock section, or the hip hop section for example. You can see charts and top albums that cover all genres. But you can also see it per genre based.
When you click "Play" on the exact year, you get a mix of all since this works like listening to a snippet of that year.
Does that answer your question? Did you try out the app?
