Ready: The Next Gen Messenger

Maker
Hello Product Hunt! We are Ready (ready.io), a team of blockchain and cybersecurity engineers. We believe that messaging apps need to care more about privacy and security. It’s not simply about keeping your data safe but also about not collecting any in the first place. Ready is a messaging app where you can enjoy: - Pseudonymous Account Generation: you only need a wallet address to sign up and use (if you don’t have any, you can instantly create one within the app; Ready is friendly to non-crypto owners that way. Your new wallet is Ethereum-based and compatible with other Ethereum projects). No phone number, email address, or DOB whatsoever is required upon account generation and in subsequent steps. - Encrypted Messenger: your conversations in 1-1 chats, private groups, and private channels are end-to-end encrypted by default, and we give you a randomly generated pseudonym. - Multi-Chain Crypto Wallet: if you are a crypto owner, this is what you would love. Besides multi-chain crypto management, we also offer other features such as transacting via 1-1 chats and smart swaps (i.e. DEX aggregator). Again, we’d like to highlight that Ready is not just for crypto owners or blockchain enthusiasts. Though its technological foundation is blockchain-related (in particular, non-custodial wallets), Ready can be used easily by anyone. We’re so excited to announce that we’ve just launched our Beta (iOS, Android) and are also running a Beta Program for public testing. You can check out our Beta version and Beta Program here. We’d really love to see your feedback, ideas, or even bug reports. Please leave those in the in-app Ready Feedback chat or just share them as comments under this post. Every thought is much appreciated as it takes us a step closer to developing a product best suited for you and other users. For more information about Ready, please visit https://ready.io/. Thanks, and we can’t wait to hear what you think about Ready!

Ready: The Next Gen Messenger

@jun_gong thanks for the great question! There are certain similarities (for now) in terms of technology between Ready and Nansen Connect. However, it seems like Nansen Connect is designed to serve the tech- or crypto-savvy users, and users join groups based on their holdings. From their public statement, users are, to some extent, "assessed" and "grouped" based on their crypto holdings and on-chain behaviors. Messaging is more of an add-on feature to support Nansen's crypto-related features rather than the main one. At Ready, we aim to build a messaging app that is friendly to anyone regardless of how familiar they are with blockchain or crypto. We don't limit their choices in joining groups and channels (group/channel owners may have that permission, though) based on any criteria like their crypto portfolio whatsoever. We encourage community-building activities by offering multiple communication methods, assistant chatbots, and user-centric incentive structures (more are available at https://ready.io/whitepaper). In short, we believe that it's time for everyone to enjoy more private & secure virtual communication, and that privacy and security shouldn't be an exclusive option only for some particular user groups. I hope my reply can answer your question. Just let us know if you have any others. We're happy to address them.

Congrats on the launch, @trangbq! I see how this differentiates from Signal, one of the most popular "privacy-focused" messaging app with your blockchain infra, but curious what use cases you imagine Ready being better for.

Ready: The Next Gen Messenger

Maker
@rrhoover so great to see you here. Thanks for stopping by! About your question, - users can feel the difference since they land in our app: no need to provide any personal data to start connecting with others. Signal still requires a phone number for user authentication. - Besides direct messages, Ready is designed to fulfill people's needs to build and belong to communities. Signal, on the other hand, tends to put privacy above all other factors, making it hard for communities to thrive there. + At Ready, we offer 1-1 chats, (public and private) groups, (public and private) channels (i.e. one-way groups) so it's easier to build and join communities. Eg. Imagine user A is an expert in industry X and would love to spread his knowledge, he can set up a public channel (only he can post) for any beginners to learn the basics and a private group for more lively discussions of the current trends in industry X (participants are supposed to have certain knowledge already). Having various forms of communication is beneficial for both community builders and casual users. + We'll offer assistant chatbots to owners/admins of groups and channels so that they can manage their communities more efficiently. + We plan to incentivize community builders to keep producing quality content by giving them the option of creating paid groups/channels. That way, they have both natural social pull and financial push to bring more value to others. - our app is designed to be straightforward and fun to use. Security needn't come with (lots of) compromised convenience. - one group of users that will find Ready particularly versatile to use is crypto owners. They can manage assets across chains, enjoy optimal swaps, send and receive payments right in 1-1 chats... Messaging is the main feature but we do offer some (minor) others related to crypto wallets. With the increasing volume of this group, we expect to see more people turn to products like Ready. Signal now allows only MobileCoin. I hope this comment can somehow address your question. More details about our product and related aspects can be found in our white paper: https://ready.io/whitepaper/ If you have any other questions, feel free to let us know. We're glad to answer them all!
