ReadMark is an RSS reader that is... markable. Besides essential features that every other RSS readers and read-later services offer, ReadMark uniquely provides you a smooth and distraction-free note taking experience, "Mark". Try it!
Hi Product Hunt,
Co-founder and Designer of ReadMark here. We are so excited to share ReadMark 1.0 with you.
I've been using RSS readers since the first day Google Reader became available. That was 2005. I later joined Google after I graduated from college, and as a Googler, I donated my "20% time" to Reader and made some contributions. RSS has many shortcomings, but it gives me complete control on what I read, and how I read.
No, we didn't intend to recreate Google Reader. After Google Reader, there are already many excellent RSS readers on the market. I used Feedbin + Reeder, and I spent thousands of hours in them each year. They are perfect for reading.
So why we decided to build a new one? Because I want to do something differently. I take reading seriously. I use RSS readers to hunt for design inspirations (as a designer), new products and apps that I could try (as a geek), industry stats and analysis (as a co-founder and investor), or general inspiriting quotes. I have a lot to note while reading, so I need to get back to my computer, open Reeder and Notion side by side, and copy-paste the things I want to note manually. That breaks my reading flow.
We call ReadMark "an RSS reader that is markable". Besides essential features that every other RSS readers and read-later services offer ("Read"), we built a smooth and distraction-free note taking experience ("Mark") into ReadMark. The interaction is unique - In any article you find through RSS feeds or saved to ReadMark, whether you are inspired by a sentence or an image, just tap and hold, ta-da, it's marked. Say goodbye to careful handling of text selection lollipops and magnifiers, you won't miss them after you get used to our marking experience.
You can also add inline notes with texts and images in articles, and you could export articles with your own highlights and notes in .markdown or .docx. If you want a holistic view of all your marks and notes, you can also organize them via a built-in notebook. You can also sync marks seamlessly to your favorite note-taking apps such as Notion, Evernote and OneNote.
With ReadMark, I no longer need to have reader apps and note-taking apps side-by-side, no longer need to toggle between them and interrupt my flow state caused by cumbersome interactions. I can simply focus on reading and taking highlights and personal notes.
So that's why I am excited to share it with you. If you are someone like me who take reading seriously, who enjoys the content from RSS readers and also want to jot down your precious thoughts while reading, this app is for you. And I hope you enjoy it.
