Read with Amira uses artificial intelligence and machine learning to offer personalized tutor services for children ages 5-9 who are in their formative years of learning to read and is used by over 300 school districts in 49 states, and in 6 countries globally, Amira is proven to double the reading growth pace for children.
Rooted in over 20 years of research from Carnegie Mellon and backed by the Google Assistant Fund and Amazon Alexa Fund, Amira has demonstrated growth equal to or greater than giving each child their own certified human reading tutor. Our mission is to ensure every student can become a motivated and masterful reader.
Read with Amira, the company's newest app, combines Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the Science of Reading to improve early reading outcomes. Amira is an avatar who listens to students read out loud, assesses reading skills, and provides real-time feedback and coaching to improve reading fluency. Each reading session with Amira generates insights and data for parents such as words correct per minute, what the child has read, and how long they have read that week. The technology then selects the next set of content for the student at their just-right reading level to help them progress toward reading mastery.
Key benefits of Read with Amira:
Real-Time AI Tutor: Amira uses AI to actively listen as a child reads and helps them if they skip, mispronounce, or substitute a word, drawing from a vast database of knowledge and dialects.
Dynamic Reading Progress: Kids are encouraged to read up to 20 minutes or 5,000 words a day, which will equate to 1.8 million words per year, and are put on track to score 90% higher than their peers on standardized tests.
