Want to stop Spotify Radio from torturing you with the same tracks over and over again? Radionewify generates playlists based on your most recently played song, while avoiding all in your library.
@elias_edgren Congratulations on the launch! Love the idea of listening to completely unheard music. Great way to explore the music of different cultures :)
I write a monthly music newsletter where I curate 25 new song recommendations, so I'm also super frustrated in how Spotify encourages users to be "stuck" in songs that they've listened to before or close to what's comfortable.
I love this app you've built! I've tried it out and can confirm that it intentionally avoids tracks I already have in my library. Really love the intention behind that design.
Congrats on launching this man, and looking forward to utilizing this for discovery!
@andrew_tsao1 Thanks! I'm really happy every time someone says that it works as intended (because there were bugs... oh there were bugs...)
Where can I find your newsletter?
Playlists should be for saving songs, radio should be for discovery.
Spotify's radio algorithm traps you in a narrow musical space where they torture you with the same tracks over and over again. Radionewify provides an escape.
After you connect it to your Spotify account, it detects your most recently played track and generates a playlist with ~100 recommendations based on it. It then opens Spotify and starts playing from the generated radio.
You can also generate radios based on artists, playlists, genres, and your most listened to songs.
The site avoids all tracks that are:
- In your playlists (except for the first radio after you log in — it takes time to extract all the tracks)
- In your "liked songs"
- Played since you've connected to it
The recommendations are also not based on your previous listening patterns, and their "max popularity index" is 60.
Would love to hear any feedback, the site is still in BETA.
