PushBeacon allows you to send custom notifications to any device with just an HTTP request. The best part? It takes just 2 minute to set up. Add all the devices you want (Android, iPhone, iPad..), then send an HTTP POST on our endpoint and you're good to go
Hello there 👋, I'm the founder of PushBeacon!
I’m a solopreneur, and in the last few years, I've built several projects. However, each time these projects took too long, so I decided to try shorter projects and avoid spending months on projects that won’t attract anyone.
When you have one project, it’s pretty easy to manage; you have your dashboard, you check your mail… But when you start having multiple projects, it becomes more complicated.
➡️ For example, I wanted to know when I received a payment from LemonSqueezy, and since they don’t have a mobile app, the only way was to constantly check my emails to see if something happened.
That’s why I created this project. Now, in my projects, I send notifications to my phone whenever a user signs up for my app or when I receive a payment on my webhook from LemonSqueezy.
There are, of course, alternatives to this project; I didn't invent anything. But I focused on allowing people to set up their notifications very quickly and keeping things simple. We don’t provide 100 integrations, we don’t have a history of notifications…
But we do one simple thing, and that’s well enough for a majority of use cases.
Sidenote: PushBeacon uses PushBeacon to warn me when something happens, and I find it very satisfying.
Sidenote2 : For the launch, I setup a 10% off lifetime code available for few days. It works for the lifetime deal and for the monthly subscription each month.
Would love your feedback on this !
Congrats on the launch Teva 🚀
Love the name PushBeacon ❤️ How long did it take you to come up with it? 😂
What is the process to register a device with PushBeacon?
Also, how does using PushBeacon compare with integrating with Slack for notifications?
@jgani Hey Jonni, thanks for your message 😄
Choosing a name is tough, especially when you want to include what you do in it. I tried GPT but didn't have much luck there, though it did give me some pointers. After that, it's back to good old pen and paper for brainstorming, haha 😂 .
As for the registration process, it's the same as in the demo.
On your account, you create a code that you'll send to a device (phone, tablet, etc.). Then, you download the app on your device and enter the code.
After that, you're all set! You just need an API key, which you can create with one click. There are also examples in cURL and various programming languages showing how to trigger notifications!
The differences with Slack (this is an excellent question, I love it !) are :
- An easy setup, in very little time you can get started
- No history, depending on what you want to send, this could be a good thing
- Simplicity, Slack allows you to do a bunch of great things! You can send videos, reply to threads etc ...
The purpose of PushBeacon is to give you an information, but not to overwhelm you!
Thank you again for your message!
@teva Thanks for taking the time to compose a thorough answer Teva.
Somehow I missed the 'download the PushBecon app' part. Sorry about that.
What's your next plan after this?
@jgani No worries ! I added recently a way to send custom notification to specific devices (like groups or multiple devices selecting by ID) to allow people to have more granular possibilities with their notifications !
Also, I plan to add some mechanisms to make the notifications more reliable. As you may know, Google and Apple doesn't guarrantee that the notification is delivered, so I want to make something for this is this sense
Hey Téva, congrats on launching PushBeacon! I think it deserves more attention on this interesting product. Love your focus on simplicity and getting things done quickly, similar to how AppAlloy aims to streamline the app development process. Definitely checking this out!
@tiepvuvan Hey! Thank you for the kind words !
I spent quite some time on the online demo to allow people to try it out easily and get an idea of what it is.
The idea behind PushBeacon is simplicity, doing more with less!
@teva I'm following the same concept with my product, AppAlloy, which I just launched today. It helps transforming datasheets to mobile apps, under 30 seconds, making the work experience with data more intuitive and user-friendly. How about you taking a look and sharing some thoughts on it? I appreciate!
