Hi Product Hunt Community - I wanted to let you know about our 10 week online course in Product Management. Product Institute is unique in that it combines the ease and flexibility of an online class with personalized coaching and a built-in community. This two and a half month course offers engaging content to students in the form of entertaining videos, blog-like posts, and interactive exercises. Each student works with a Product Management coach in both one-on-one and small group video chat sessions, allowing for further course content exploration and individual career guidance. Students are also added to our Product Institute Slack channel, where they can chat with an international community of past students, current peers, coaches, and course teachers.
I've been developing this over the course of the last year and our first class of 55 students has just completed it. After writing the curriculum for General Assembly's 10 week Product Management class, I wanted to do a curriculum that was a deeper dive into the craft and focused on the foundations of good Product Management. We are perfect for a variety of backgrounds - 30% of our class had over 10+ years of experience in Product Management, while 23% had less than one year. The rest fell somewhere in the middle. We also have a diverse group of students, with 60% based outside of the United States.
I'm excited to answer any of your questions!
I was in Melissa's first batch at the Product Institute.
I highly recommend it for product people of all stripes. If you're starting in product management, Melissa offers a fantastic methodology for building great products. If you're an established product leader, you know how important it is to keep challenging yourself - the mentor and group discussions will give you plenty of opportunities to learn beyond the core content.
Melissa's product thinking is an interesting take on Lean UX, and builds on lean and agile values (rather than practices). So, whether your teams practice Kanban, Scrum, or XP, you'll get the tools you need to build great products.
In summary - the content is great, the format is great, and the people are.... you guessed it.
