This is my first launch here! A few weekends ago I built this Price Comparison Chrome Extension, which automatically detects when you are in a product page, searches in real time through 1B+ products, 20k retailers in 40+ countries and displays a popup with a list of relevant sites selling the same item for cheaper.

Curious about the technical side. Is this using API's or web scraping methods to fetch product data? And how does this extension make money?

Regarding the technical side, we aggregate affiliate networks on our backend that provide us with updated product feeds adding up to 1B+ real-time product inventory.
The business model is simple: some of the provided links of stores that sell that same product for cheaper are affiliated, so if people click them and buy the item for cheaper from that store, we get a comission. For now we are focused on growth and providing the best user experience, so none of the links shown are affiliate.

@adriablancafort no, I have been looking for browser extensions that automatically do price comparison and came across yours and Peel: Price Comparison through Product Hunt. As a former Honey member, I've been looking for similar tools with ease and something I can trust. Thanks for the accusation and leaving a bad taste in my mouth though....
