What do you think? …

I'm completely fascinated with this concept. Signed up, and immediately had no idea what to do inside the template maker. lol I think it definitely could use some onboarding instructions. Maybe a "Default" template to start out with so we can see how it works.

@dustinwstout Thanks for the feedback! Better on-boarding is now on the list of things to do :)

@madebycrevans yea, if nothing else, just a simple video of you creating an example template would be great. Would probably take you 10min to record. I started off by thinking to myself, "Okay... is the layer name like a class name? Do I have to write the class name inside the code editor and then give it CSS rules?" Took me looking around for anywhere you had photos of the interface to finally find that I just write the css as if I'm already inside the { }.

@madebycrevans @dustinwstout A sest of pre-fab templates is the way to go. Otherwise you're left sitting there wondering what to do. I'd love to see some epic examples of how it could be used. Other thoughts: - Needs pre-fab social media sizes in the dropdown. - Wordpress integration would be awesome - if I could generate a post-thumbnail everytime, that would be amazing.

@madebycrevans @rossdcurrie agreed. Great idea to have preset sizes--I didn't think of that... and I'm the king of preset social media image sizes. 😂

Looking very nice, congratulations on the launch, Chris! I've been interested in the idea of automating image generation for social media for a while now, and I think that your product along with Bannerbear API are pretty much that idea turned into something real (and good-looking).

@eliesing Thanks for the support! It's an idea that's been bouncing around my head for a couple of years now. I'm a fan of Jon Yongfook's journey, but also want Postkit to stand on its own so haven't worried too much about alternative products. I think the market's big enough we can all be successful!

@madebycrevans Totally agree with you!

Hello Product Hunters, I’m Chris from Postkit. The idea of Postkit came from a side project of mine. I wanted to automatically Tweet a tip out every day that would help freelancers. I wanted to share these tips in the form of an image, to create more visual interest and make the tips more sharable. I, therefore, built a small script that would generate the image and post it to Twitter. I began using the script for more projects, generating social media images, generating blog thumbnails, generating OpenGraph. If I could automate it, I would. For the past few months began turning that bloated little script that takes hours to set up into a platform. I present to you Postkit. Postkit is an image generation platform that allows you to build templates using CSS and then generate images from them programmatically. This can be done through a dynamically generated form (which are shareable with your team), URLs (for OpenGraph, Buffer etc) or API (the limits of your imagination). From landing on the home page, you can be up and running in under 10 minutes and there's a free plan so everyone can try it. I invite you all to try it out, get to know the product and see how it can help you create richer visual content. Oh yeah, if you decide you want to upgrade, use the promo code LAUNCH20 to get 20% off, this is valid until June 19th 2020.
