🍎 Hey Product Hunt! 👋
We're excited to launch pom, an ingredient checker app that empowers you to make informed decisions on the products you put in and on your body.
There are many ingredients allowed into our everyday products that have concerning evidence linking them to being harmful to human health. That's why we made pom. To further the efforts in ingredient transparency.
We are 100% independent and are backed by science, giving you the ability to see the full scientific picture (the good and the bad). pom also allows for customization, letting you decide what's important to you.
Give pom a try and start scanning for peace of mind today!
P.S. we're still in the early stages so any feedback is greatly appreciated :)
@leanna_l if you could further enhance with probably next release on built-in AI to give users options to use the product (with its ingredients) to cook up dishes or cuisines. The AI would give suggestive dishes based on consumer viral habits and diet (gathered from behaviour consumer purchases of cooked item or ordered food).
For those diabetic or HBP, ability to advise based on scanned product to determine if it is safe for them to consume and at what amount is acceptable (presumbly such as Sweets, chocolates, candies and those high salt or sodium based consumer product).
For me as Type 2 Diabetic, I had to keep looking at the ingredients labels at Sugar or total Carbo (with sugar) to determine if I need to consume it then at what minimal amount is acceptable. Assuming the package of candies is 500g but within that package, each candy wrapped with 15g each. For 15g, the sugar is 2.5g but in package of 500g is 82.5g which means I cannot consume the whole package! Most probably, 5 wrapped candy which is 12.5g (max of digested sucrose in my bloodstream). I could pop in 5 wrapped candy throughout the day (but not more than 5).
I mean you get the picture. Above measurement is a rough guide. I think 1 teaspoon sugar is 4g so anything more than 3 teaspoon is max out for the day ( equal to 12g). I'll consider as a self-disciplined control freak.
@zhiqi_shi Hey, yes you can add your allergens in the product, however, given that there is an error rate albeit low, we do not advice you use our product to treat allergens.
