Having worked on thousands of events over almost a decade and using various audience engagement tools, we always faced the same problem: social media. Many event organizers have hashtags for events and wish to utilize social media to engage with their audience, but how to integrate this into the event?
After a while we found social media walls to be a great, visual way to display posts on the event screens. But interacting with the audience with polls or adding a Q&A meant adding another tool to the stack, making the production more difficult and making the event experience more complicated for the audience.
Solution is very simple: combine it under one tool. I decided to roll up sleeves and build the product we've been wanting for so long.
PollUp has one master view called the event wall, which is designed to be shown on the big screen. It shows posts from social media, gathers messages from an easy-to-use participant mobile site and displays poll results made by the organizer. As the event wall can be created way before the event, it allows for more use cases than most similar tools: it can be used in lobby screens, embedded into a virtual event platform or a website and more.
To allow event wall ideology to be used in all sized events, we have a few plans to choose from. I hope PollUp will be as useful to other event organizers as it has been for us!
