The price of getting a startup out the door has dropped by a thousand thanks to computing advancements according to Stanford/Berkeley/Columbia Professor Steve Blank (@sgblank on twitter) and in talking about the Venture Capital/startup cluster in Silicon Valley he goes on to point out that "information has been democratized, entrepreneurial information exists everywhere. The biggest problem is how to sort through it, NOT whether you can get to it." With that said, I believe Jaime Cruz @sanelyinsane_ is on to something very attractive and highly in-demand by many so many entrepreneurs, Founders and product makers to come. I would highly recommend listening to this podcast every so often to really get a good grasp what extremely valuable and insightful info Steve Blanks gives us, including affirmation that "Venture Capital is our National Industrial policy". This is actually something I just learned in 2016. "The biggest problem is how to sort through it (information)" starts at 24:13 https://blindspotpodcast.com/201...
@thefranc Thank you very much Francisco! That is exactly one of the reasons why we started working on this. We found out that when looking for entrepreneurial advice online you would just get stuff from forbes, entrepreneur.com, etc, but the content written by actual experts was nowhere to be found!
Also thanks for pointing me to the podcast, i've never heard of it and will definitely check it out! Please feel free to reach out with any questions, comments, or suggestions.
@sanelyinsane_ That wizard Steve Blank is a guest on many podcasts. But this particular podcast is eye opening in many ways. In the grand scheme of Venture Capital and its place in making this a great country and how Silicon Valley came to be and is evolving, I consider this podcast of high educational value and a big KEY for would-be Founders and Entrepreneurs. For anyone really, as mainstream America begins to catch on how new tech, products, services and apps are born. Surely as vast as digital ventures have become overall in almost all industries, I would imagine that this area will be touched upon and perhaps taught even earlier in our public school systems with STEM initiatives inevitably pushing on digital tech entrepreneurship classes and programs as well.
@sanelyinsane_@thefranc I agree 100% on that last part about education. If you're interested Kevin Kelly, founder of Wired, has a great article in the New York Times about what he calls "technoliteracy" http://www.nytimes.com/2010/09/1...
He explains how the tech world is moving so fast if you learn something in school it's likely it's outdated by the time you finish learning it. Instead, kids need to get a solid foundational knowledge of what the internet can do in order to be able to adapt to the rapidly changing tech ecosystem.
Thanks for the insightful comments :)
This is the best thing ever! I consume a lot of content from blogs and it's annoying to keep tabs on my favorite blogs to see when they make a new post
Hi Product Hunt, super excited to be hunted and be able to share this project with you guys!
Playbook was born out of a shared frustration, between my roommate and I, of how difficult it was to find the excellent content that is being put out by guys like @fredwilson, @bfeld, @noahkagan, @thisissethsblog, etc., and how difficult it is to follow it on mobile. We hope that this app makes keeping up with, and learning from, these startup experts as easy as possible.
On Playbook we currently have over 80 startup experts that you can start following, but we are looking to expand this list. We are specifically looking to diversify it with more women in the startup world, and POC. If you would like to help us you can submit suggestions at founderchronicles.com
We are also opening up a slack channel in which we want to create a community that helps us evolve this product through feedback of ideas, early versions, etc. If you are interested please to founderchronicles.com
