This is becoming quite a crowded space, all with their own little extra feature or angle. What is the BIG differentiator that will attract users to your app rather than using any of the others? It seems tagging photos may be a new thing to do - it would certainly make it easier when trying to find an older one. This is a problem that many people will relate to, although not sure how much of a problem...yet. As we take more photos, get more storage etc etc I'm sure tagging will be a lot more common. Then I guess you have the customising layer to make them fun and shareable with friends... there are a lot of apps in this space too so how do you aim to compete there?

@bentossell Great question. We definitely see more apps int this area, and then, at the same time, the photo market itself is growing fast. Like in 2015 we see ~1T total photos being captured worldwide, 25% more than in 2014. The opportunities are there as we see, with challenge. Pixbrite is not simply a one-more-photo-editing-app, or a one-more-photo-organizing-app. Pixbrite understands the photos you take, groups them, processes them, and makes shareable collages for you, automatically in one step, in real time. We believe this is super important because users’ intention to edit or share photos is often short. And also note that our auto-generated contents are fully editable. A user can re-select photos, adjust layout, and pick from the rich choices of background, borders and stickers to add personal style. I haven’t seen other similar products on the market yet. Pixbrite is a real-time one stop shop, which is hard to do as you may tell. We have managed to do image recognition super fast, and complete some computational photography and image processing tricks in few seconds. Most apps, including Google Photos, take a long time for users to see results. (I see Google Photos as a great photo backup solution, which we don’t do).

@lightfield would you consider adding backup too or rather focus on what you do, do?

@bentossell Agree that there are already apps providing photo organizing and several of them doing auto tagging. However, tagging is just part of the photo organizing. After surveyed 300 users and interviewed a lot, we found people are bothered also by the duplicated photos, short of storage and many other problems. The increasing amount of photos are not only affecting the step of finding a photo but also (actually more) affecting the editing and thus sharing step, with the later two are more important and frequent. So, we designed Pixbrite to provide an all-in-one solution that take care of both organizing and editing. Instead of like other apps give you a search bar to find photos or organized albums, we give you ready-to-share moments, in real time. And we connect these moments by their relation in terms of timing, location and certainly people (coming a bit later though). So, we think the major drive for users to try and stay with our app is the all-in-one convenient and fun experience that covers the whole process between photo taking and sharing.

@bentossell At least for now, we decided not to do back up. Not wise to compete with Google or Amazon on backup (Carousel is one example...) Instead, we make ourselves cross platform, and work with these backup solutions. We now support iCloud and Facebook photos, and we are going to support more other cloud backup platforms.

An amazing app for those who take lots of pictures with their smartphones and don't have enough time to organize and share them. Get your photos from past and present automatically organized into a timeline of moments. Retouch, share, or discover related photos. Enjoy living in your moments! They are now featured on App Store as one of the “Best New Apps” as well as recommended “Craft Collages” and “Organize Your Photos” app. @elaineluyi and @lightfield feel free to jump in and share your story behind Pixbrite and answer the questions PH community members may have.

Many thanks for your kind comments @tigranhakobian! Hello Product Hunters, this is Elaine Lu and Changyin Zhou from Silicon Valley! We are a small startup team focusing on improving users' mobile photo experience. As many of you know, manually picking and editing photos could be a tedious process for mobile users, especially when you just snapped lots of photos from a fun trip or gathering. Observing this user pain, we developed Pixbrite to offer a solution. Pixbrite is a one stop shop for smart photo organizing and editing. It can automatically organize users photos from the past and present into a timeline of moments. Each moment is a collage that can be retouched with personal style or immediately shared. In addition, users can discover their past related photos by subject and location from any moment. By automating this process, we hope to make your photo organizing and editing experience much easier, faster, and enjoyable! We just released Pixbrite last Wednesday and were really excited to find it being featured in App Store. We eager to make the app better and would really appreciate your kind feedbacks! Looking forward to chatting with you all!
