6 different apertures and an 18-36mm variable zoom, redefine ‘sharp’ pinhole photography. For the first time ever, you can finetune the pinhole settings to achieve the sharpest image and bring a vintage look to modern photography and videography.
Hey Hunters,
Forbushere, Chief Engineer of the Pinhole Pro Max.
This is our first time on Product Hunt — after a recommendation from one of our users — but it’s our 4th gen professional pinhole lens, and brings together the best innovations we’ve developed with each new generation.
This new lens incorporates 6 pinhole sizes, between 0.15-0.5 millimeters (equivalent to around f/35-f/240! — yes, you read that right!), and a zoom mechanism that moves the pinhole between 18-36mm away from the sensor.
Pinhole photography has always been a passion of mine, in that it connects us with the roots of photography, where it all started. Its beautiful simplicity, and the ethereal visual scapes we can create through incredibly long exposures.
But as some of you might know, pinhole photography can be a challenge, especially on digital cameras. Due to the ‘circle of confusion’, there’s a certain seemingly unavoidable softness to any pinhole photo. It makes them look out-of-focus, or blurry.
After playing around with formulas and physics, and then designing a series of pinhole lenses, we found the solution. By varying the distance of the pinhole to the sensor, and matching it with an appropriately-sized pinhole, we were able to achieve MUCH sharper images than previously possible!
Prior to us creating the Pinhole Pro series, there were very few pinhole lenses made for digital cameras. The ones that did exist were either made out of cheap plastic or cost over $1,000. We wanted to make something high-end professional but affordable as well.
That’s why the Pinhole Pro series is made from aviation-grade aluminum with the highest precision CNC micro-drilling — the finest drill size measures less than 1/10th of a human hair!
And now, after three years of R&D, we created the latest Pinhole Pro Max, with multi-aperture and zoom, to maximize the pinhole potential and provide a very versatile professional lens for both video and photos.
I’m happy to say that we have over 15,000 happy previous backers on Kickstarter, who received 3 previous Pinhole lenses that we designed and built — and many of them returned to check out this new lens.
No matter your camera, you should find a lens for the mount — Canon, Sony, Nikon, m4/3, Fuji, Pentax — for mirrorless and DSLRs.
Have you tried pinhole photography before? I’d love to see some of your photos and hear your thoughts on our latest pinhole innovation.
