It says unlimited sharing for free. Do you plan on monetizing it in the future?

@bradenhamm Hey Braden: sharing as it is offered today will always remain free. We don't plan on charging users for this. We have thought of a few premium offerings that will be revenue drivers and we have also thought of a few non-annoying ways of bringing relevant content to users which can drive revenue. Given where we are at the moment, we are laser focused on building a product and features that millions around the world will be excited about. and that is keeping us super super busy and excited :)

@rahulc_23 Are you hosting the photos? Or are they all stored locally on the device?

@bradenhamm Hey Braden, shared photos are securely stored in our cloud storage (we use AWS). This is in contrast to popular messenger apps that don't provide the built in mechanism to store the photos. Only specific people you share with can view the photos.

@rahulc_23 Doesn't that get expensive if people share a lot? Or is the cost less because less people are viewing the image?

@bradenhamm Great question. Historical cloud storage pricing indicates that prices will continue to decline. AWS for example, was charging $0.15/GB/mo. in 2006 vs 0.03/GB/mo. now, that's 80% reduction in less than 10 years. So our cost of storage will become less significant in future. In our survey, we found that most consumers (not businesses) don't like paying for storage. So we don't believe that charging for storage is the right business model for future. I didn't get the second part of the question about viewing images. Can you elaborate?

What's the difference between this and the built in photo sharing in the photos app?

@dshaffer731 Thanks for the question. iCloud photo sharing doesn't work with Android, unless you enable public website. Public websites mean you need to send the link to photos in an email (which IMO is boring) and provides a weak security, as anyone with the link can view and easily download/forward photos. Photos on Phontabulous cannot be easily downloaded or forwarded (unless someone takes a screenshot). Phontabulous natively support Android & iOS.
