Peaks! is a small byproduct of my web app AdventureLog.io (https://www.adventurelog.io/), and my first "real" app. As a hiker and mountaineer, I love the mountains of this world more than anything, and Peaks! is my contribution. What's especially important to me is that nowadays you can build your own "Google Earth" with freely available data. We host the 3D and Openstreetmap data for the meta information ourselves in a data center in Germany. The only data that comes from outside is the aerial photo data from NASA and Swisstopo (for Switzerland). Also very important to me is data privacy. No ads, no clickbait, no user tracking and a privacy friendly analytics tool (plausible.io) - just a nice app that serves its purpose. With more freely available elevation data I want to improve this 3D world steadily - so far we reach 20m-30m resolution worldwide. Only Switzerland already shines in stunning 2m quality. The AdventureLog universe has potential - but is far from covering its costs. I am actively looking for people to support me on this way. Here is a video about it:
