Hey Product Hunters! I’m one of the Co-Founders at Oloid and I’m excited to showcase the Oloid M-Tag; the world’s first self-install mobile access product for modern offices. Even before we started engineering the M-Tag, we were faced by an intriguing problem statement: How do we make an existing install base of unsecure, RFID based Physical Access Control Systems, secure? All the while ensuring to incorporate dynamic access control rules that are widely prevalent in virtual access control. The answer is the Oloid M-Tag! The M-Tag is born out of a combination of the deep engineering skills of both the hardware and the software teams, at Oloid, that worked in tandem to develop the product in record time. Every contributor worked on a simple idea of making physical access frictionless for scores of employees, everywhere. We created a simple and easy to use product that converts an existing unsecure RFID Physical Access Control System to a secure access control system, in under 10 minutes of setup time! What challenges did we face on the way here, you would ask? Well, endless. One of the most critical problems was to ensure that mobile phones connect seamlessly with the M-Tag, using BLE, and transfer user credentials in less than a second. Several iterations of the mobile apps and the device firmware made us create the M-Tag.
