Dear lovely people of the Product Hunt, 👋
My name is Loris (like the monkey) and I built Octohook with my super talented friend Sam. (Just the two of us 🎶)
We’re both software engineers and we love making new products but this is our very first Product Hunt launch! We usually make stuff and hope people that could benefit from it will magically stumble upon it. But this time, we built something that we believe is too good not to share. 🐙
Since webhooks are processed in the background of most applications, you typically have no visibility over what is happening. This makes it hard to debug any issue that might occur in the future but also hard to implement them in the first place.
Octohook solves that problem by acting as a webhook middleman.
→ We provide you with a webhook URL. Give it to your provider and start exploring their webhooks in realtime.
→ Create destinations to forward your webhooks instantly anywhere you want.
→ A destination failed to process your webhook? No worries, resend it in one click.
→ Use workflows to customize how your webhooks are handled from start to finish.
Okay that’s the end of the sales pitch, Human-Loris is back (Human-Monkey-Loris).
Octohook has a very generous free plan so go give it a spin and provide lot’s of feedback. I promise we won’t cry (too much).
If you are ready to try our paid plan, we currently have a launch discount of 50% for everyone and an additional 25% off for Product Hunt friends. Both of these discounts are kept forever. 😻
I’ll be available all day to answer questions, feedback or just to have a chat about random things.
Speak soon! 🖖
Hello fellow makers and hunters 👋
Loris name dropped me before, but my name is Sam and I'm the other half of Octohook. We are a little past half way through the day and I wanted to say thank you to everyone who has upvoted us as well as the crazy numbers of new users and a few Product Hunt day one subscriptions!
Octohook was born from the frustration of having to build integrations with third party software almost blindly and at best having to find ways to see the actual data being sent to you. Once you figure out how to see that data you then need to keep track of what each webhook meant, what event it was for, when did I receive it, oh - what about headers and security! It gets me stressed just thinking about the old ways!
This entire process has been taken over by Octohook now, I can see the webhooks coming in, I can check their data in real time and I can see them being securely processed and sent to different destinations - it's amazing.
Loris took some time a couple of weeks ago to record a bit of a tutorial on using Octohook to connect Sentry.io and Github, so that every time a new error is thrown in your application then an issue is created on Github, just like magic! If that sounds like something you'd like to see you can find that here:
I will say that since the video was recorded we have added official Sentry support but I hope it opens your eyes to the power of Octohook!
Hope to speak to some of you fine folk soon. 🖖
@dennis_khvostionov Thank you Dennis! We got inspired by how the 3D modelling software Blender handles material shading and composition. We instantly fell in love with that node approach and decided to apply it to productivity workflows.
