Hello Product Hunt! With all that's happening around the world, today couldn't be a better time to launch the future of news. Trust in news media is lower today than it's ever been. This isn't an abstract problem. When we're unsure if we're getting necessary context, or worse--feel like publishers are pushing an agenda, we get a warped sense of how the public at large really thinks. This phenomenon atomizes society, reducing our capacity to solve social and political problems. Nuprizm addresses this problem by giving the public the ability to rate news on importance, accuracy, and headline quality, visualize real-time public sentiment about articles, and sort your news feed using algorithmic choice. When I first conceptualized the design of this platform, I didn't know how to code. So I switched careers, taught myself, and got a job as a software engineer to learn how to build software. I also sharpened my writing skills and published articles with both international and independent outlets to gain experience working with editors. I'm committed to this idea! I'm really happy with this early iteration of the platform, and eager to implement an exciting roadmap that will further enable readers to keep the media honest, help contextualize the world around them, and ultimately build a better public square. You can download our app today in the App Store! I've already implemented new features from early adopters like yourself, so I'd love for you to try it out and tell me what you think too. Thanks for reading! -Tomás

@tomas_sidenfaden I mean this is a great idea but like...AI bots who are sent to downvote a particular piece of news? Do you have an algorithm against that? Also I feel like this would divide people rather than unite them. What are your thoughts on that?

@theological you have to read the article in order to rate it, so that’s a technical hurdle for bots. That being said, bots can be a problem with social platforms at scale. We’ll solve this problem primarily via subscriptions. There will always be a free tier, however.

@theological I think it’s more likely to unite people because they can get a sense of how the public actually perceived the news, and partisan media always tends to suggest that we’re more divided than we actually are. According to a recent study by the Pew Research Center, half of Americans believe that news media is actively trying to mislead them. That’s a huge miss. With nuprizm, you’d be able to see whether the framing of the news is generally accepted by the public. I think that’s a pretty powerful tool for narrative decentralization.

@tomas_sidenfaden I don't know if I should, uh, break it to you but the whole point of news media is to actively mislead people -- that's why independent news and independent investigative journalists are so important. Any government channel news is a part of the propaganda machine of some sort and to deny that is simply to willingly participate in a mass delusion. I mean, they have written books and articles on this, made films and TV shows and, hell, my first attempted major was PR&Marketing (a hellscape) and one of the first things they teach you is that 'a lie is not a lie if it's just a slight misdirection of the truth' uhhh hello? Also, we literally did studies on how to actually read the news (especially when it comes to linguistics). I'm so glad I'm not in that wretched sphere (no offense to those who enjoy working there). But as I've said, the issue isn't necessarily with people but with bots programmed to make a news piece look more favourable with the public than it really is. Is there an algorithm against that in your app?

@maryam_safaee that’s the goal! In this day and age, it seems bizarre to have to wait 4 years to get public sentiment. Imagine how politics could change if we had real-time sentiment on all the day’s news!

@kingromstar in a sense, you already get this feature because you can rate articles for importance, accuracy and headline quality (clickbait)

Really love the idea of the app! In an age where information is at our fingertips, a good news aggregator app is essential, and I think Nuprizm is a great choice. This app helps me stay updated on all the latest and important news. Additionally, I'd like to highlight the rating news feature, because it helps you understand the importance and truthfulness of the article, which is crucial nowadays. However, Nuprizm also has a clean and intuitive user interface. Navigating through different news categories is a breeze, making it easy to find the articles that matter most to me. Wishing Nuprizm rapid growth and success!

I love the clean UI and how it's possible to provide a more in-depth yet quick review of an article. I haven't seen this feature in other news platforms.
