NUCA is an AI-powered camera that captures individuals in their purest form – no clothing, literally stripped down to their authentic selves in their natural state. NUCA is a speculative design and art project.
As a speculative art project designed to provoke questions about the logical progression of generative art, NUCA both titillates and horrifies. It forces us to confront automatic shame and how we feel about body imagery — especially when it ostensibly is derived from human subjects in the real world.
Although the image creation process is asynchronous by virtue of running the captured photo through Stable Diffusion, you can imagine that it'll only be a matter of time before this kind of processing could be done real-time in so-called X-ray specs.
Then what?
@chrismessina this is quite provocative. Nice find! Art is distributed through PH, as an alternative to galleries, is pretty cool. People may burn "digital tattoos" onto their naked AI-virtual selves if the X-ray spec avatars exist in a shared AR experience. There could even be an advertising/influence incentive. Perhaps an automatic blockchain based "gaze tax" too
@cris_dosyago interesting idea...! Hadn't thought about the inverse... What if I wore a scramble suit that caused me to appear differently to the NUCA? Like in a Scanner Darkly.
@chrismessina that would be wild! You may appear like a dinosaur, all scaly skinned, shape shifting. Give those people a fright for daring to look at your nakedness. Or you could 'try on' the other identities of regular nakedness, gaining perspective into the lived experience of different bodies. The ultimate everyman! Or what if it was a reflective scramble suit, when paired with NUCA the image on screen would be the viewer's nakedness? haha!
@chrismessina hey man this reminded me of our discussion! Haha :) https://www.cs.umd.edu/~tomg/pro... "invisibility cloak" for "adversarial attacks on object detectors" hahaha perfect "anti object-ification tech" hahaha :)
So, a Juul-ed up version of all of the AI nudes generators that are, rightfully, taking so much heat? Seems like a lot of virtue signaling and ignoring the reality that many people, if not most, will use this product for purposes other than what the founders intend. This seems dangerous and shouldn't be allowed on ProductHunt. Downvote.
