News IQ is a daily news quiz about top stories. 5 quick questions every day, and you can share scores like Wordle. Every question has a short explanation with links to read more so even if you're not a news junkie, it's a fun way to stay up-to-date.
Hey ProductHunt! I'm Harish, one of the co-creators of News IQ, alongside Bharat and Yogi.
I love the daily routine and sharing of Wordle scores, and I do the weekly New York Times News Quiz religiously. I wanted to merge these two ideas to create a daily, social news quiz.
Introducing News IQ 🧠
Each day, 5 new questions are released about top recent news stories. Everyone gets the same 5 questions, and they come from many sources—like the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Vox, BBC, Scientific American, and more (fairly US-centric for now). Questions include brief explanations, so even if you're not a news junkie, it's a fun way to stay current. And many are written with subtle hints to help you deduce the answer without prior knowledge.
When you're done, you can share scores like this, similar to Wordle:

Totally free, nothing to download, no account needed, and you can play on any device. Just go to playnewsiq.com to play.
It's been great to see News IQ join Wordle, Spelling Bee, and the NYT Crossword in our friends' daily rotation. Would love any feedback!
Congrats on the launch, Harish! What a great way to stay up to date with the news.
Suggestion – show %s for each answer choice as well, and the % of people overall who got scores 1-5 at the end. Might be fun to stack rank yourself.
Good luck! 🚀
