NearYou is a social networking app designed to facilitate communication and strengthen bonds among neighbors. Whether you're at home or on the go, NearYou instantly connects you with people nearby, promoting mutual help and combating isolation.
This is a great idea. It would be awesome to use this app to meet people nearby and build a local community.
You may want to add a FourSquare-like "check in" so that users can add their general location and willingness to meet up, and other users can engage with them. This way, users could have more control about where/when they share their location, and even use the app to meet people nearby when they're away from their local area.

I’ve actually already thought about adding a feature where users can check in to a place and show they’re open to meeting people nearby — without sharing their exact location. It’s a great way to stay in control while making local connections. It’s definitely a feature we could add!

Trust and safety are core to NearYou. We’ve already implemented a few things:
Conversations are limited: users can only send one message unless the other person replies, which helps prevent spam and unwanted follow-ups.
We have automatic moderation for user-generated content to detect inappropriate behavior.
We’re also exploring a rating + feedback system between users after a service or transaction — to build reputation and transparency over time.
