Take the time to find the perfect name for your baby. Namestork brings 9 random names to you and your partner's inbox once a day at a time of your choosing. Favorite the same name and you both get a match. Your matches and favorites are remembered.
@usynn Technically yes, but you can't explicitly filter based on usage like you can based on gender. If you were using Namestork, do you think this is something you'd like to do? To see what I mean, take a look at the list of usages in https://www.behindthename.com/na.... This is the kind of feedback I've been looking for.
@usynn Pressure is on! I don't have all the data in place to do this yet, but it's something I can work toward next. Would you like to let me know when I'm done? PS: Congratulations 😀
@tatejohnson yeah there's plenty of sites that list Muslim baby boy and girl names. You could scrape them pretty easily, maybe hire someone in fiverr to go through them and take out dodgy ones and then yeah push an update and I'll check it out. Keep me posted 😊😊😊😊 thanks btw for the congrats ❤️👍🏼
Great idea! 2 years ago me and my fiancee both made a list in our iOS Notes apps, and whichever name matched was what we went with. Kind of the same concept but much cleaner! Good luck!
Hey Product Hunt 👋,
I'm Tate and I'd like to share my side project with you. Three years ago my partner and I were expecting our second child and we weren’t happy with any of the names we had. We were overwhelmed with scrolling endless lists. We were tired of putting down each others’ suggestions. We didn’t know if we were having a girl or a boy. Our baby was 6 months away and all we could feel was this pressure to come up with a name.
Why were we rushing it? What we should be doing is taking the time to find the perfect name. That’s when the idea of Namestork came to us. Someone would bring us a handful of names every day. A mix of popular and unique names that we could look at the start of our day. If we liked a name we could favorite it and Namestork would tell us we when got a match. If we didn't like any names, that's OK, we'd get more names tomorrow.
So I made it, 3 years ago. It was pretty scrappy, but we did get a handful of names, and we did find a name for our baby boy, one I don't think we would have come up with ourselves. All of my spare time quickly disappeared, so I put Namestork on the back burner, but recently, I've had more spare time again (They're sleeping better!), so I polished it up and now it's good enough to share. I'm looking for my first users outside of family and friends.
I'd love to hear what you think. If you are expecting, I'd be grateful if you tried it out. If you know someone who is expecting, I'd be grateful if you shared it with them. All questions, thoughts, comments, and feedback is welcome. 🙏
Thanks!
