this is really well executed... and also collects A LOT of personal data. is this going to become a dating app? What's the business model?

@chrismessina You're right, great point on the data. They say they don't sell your data, but they certainly freely "share" it with other 3rd parties. https://www.mozi.app/privacy-policy And if they want, apparently they'll keep it forever "When we no longer require the personal information we have collected about you, we may either delete it, anonymize it, or isolate it from further processing".

@chrismessina not gonna lie, one motivation for building Mozi is to know which friends I should set up on dates :) Re: business model: There will always be a free version of Mozi. And we will not put features that are free today behind a paywall in the future. We plan to be “Freemium” eventually, by introducing new, premium features that are available for a subscription, similar to the business models of other apps we pay for and love, like Spotify, Oura, Insight Timer, Todoist and VSCO. Neither Ev nor I love the idea of bringing ads into Mozi, but we’re open to exploring partnerships with brands that have opportunities for our members. Thanks for giving Mozi a whirl!

@molly_dewolf_swenson Love the idea and would love to give it a shot (so much I signed up for an account to post this comment), but I am concerned about the controls around personal data, particularly all the optional PII that is inevitably going to be shared on a social media platform. I would recommend giving the users the ability to permanently delete any optional information provided. Good luck!

Congrats on the launch! The app looks incredible. I love the concept, idea and the sleek UI/UX design—it’s top-notch. I'll definitely take a closer look at the app.

I think that to maintain position in the social media world is harder each year. But as I see many bots on socials and AI characters I am pretty sure that smaller groups and "private social media" have higher chances to succeed. Wish you good luck with the project.
